Back to college...

So, in September I entered the student life... again. This time I'm back to do an MA in Art and Social Practise. I'm studying through Shetland College UHI and the course can be done entirely online which is a major benefit to anyone with health problems, or other things that might make physical accessibility more complicated, I love the inclusiveness of it.
This ability, through the internet, to create communities online for learning is an interesting process to be part of. Like anything these days there has been tech issues but overall it has gone relatively smoothly with things generally being well explained in advance and the awareness of problems being inevitable emphasised and accepted. The benefit of this type of community is it's accessibility. One major positive for me is that I am part of an international classroom with students in other parts of Scotland, England, Spain, Canada, America, and another travelling throughout Europe studying as she goes. The diversity and similarities give us cause for curiosity and the ability to learn through one another's experiences, artwork and the exchange and interchanges of these.
The modules I'm currently doing are The New Social Practitioner, Communities of Practice, and Professional Practice. I'm also working with new-to-me online platforms such as Cisco Webex for taking part in video conferences and Padlet for sharing information and artistic interactions. So far I'm enjoying studying even though it takes up a lot of time, energy and thought. Callum, my manpiece is a great support and our boys are all braally helpful most of the time. I feel lucky to be doing this as education is a priority to me, and I'm definitely embracing the opportunity.
